Parenting Education for a Brighter Future
EnCHoR - AKOR
Encouragement, Consequences, Honor and Respect
A research-based, culturally sensitive parenting education program
The Challenge
When parenting education programs are inexistent, insufficient, or overlook the cultural realities of families, parents are unsupported. They lose trust in their ability to discipline the children. These situations are tied to school failure, and eventually fall into delinquency, with negative consequences for their families and society.
Our I.D.E.A.
-
We envision a widespread implementation of the AKOR curriculum through parenting workshops delivered in schools, community centers, and churches in Haiti and throughout the diaspora.
-
We continually develop and refine materials that enrich the workshop experience and tackle a variety of subjects of interest to parents. We explore ways to expand access to our content through digital platforms.
-
We train and support community leaders to deliver parenting workshops and family empowerment activities, building local capacity and ensuring cultural relevance and trust.
-
We evaluate the impact of our interventions using qualitative and quantitative measures, allowing us to learn, adapt, and strengthen the program over time.
